Establish the original requirement

Record the full part number, ordering suffix, datasheet revision and operating environment. Suffixes can distinguish voltage, temperature, output or packaging options.

Compare four dimensions

Mechanical: outline, maximum height, pads and pinout. Electrical: frequency, supply, interface and load or CL. Performance: stability, aging, jitter or phase noise and their measurement conditions. Procurement: quantity, lead time, packaging and documents.

Validate samples in the application

A comparison table identifies differences; it does not replace board testing. Validate start-up, frequency error, interface compatibility, temperature behavior and system function as required by the project.

How to work with MERLIN

Send the existing part and mandatory requirements. We can discuss alternatives through resources including SCTF and CREC, identifying differences and validation points for customer review.

This article supports initial selection discussions. Follow device and host IC documents and application testing for the actual design.
